I have been asked by the Nottingham Alumni to facilitate the traditional “Wall of Fame” effort. This request was made because this annual celebration and fund raiser had fallen on hard time and, as a result, had to be cancelled last year. This presented a real problem as the “Wall of Fame” is a one of a kind jewel among the schools in CNY winning the respect of everyone in the Nottingham Community and the admiration of all of our surrounding communities. It is also the major fund raiser for the non profit organization “Faces of Nottingham” which supports the school, staff, students and community. Finally it had become an embarrassment as the recipients of the award had been selected and had to be notified that it had to be temporarily postponed. Unfortunately no one was stepping up to take over the  effort and the alumni organization “The Nottingham Connection, in desperation, decided that they needed to run the event if it was to ever become successful again.

I was asked to facilitate the effort, partnering with a strong fund raiser and member of the Class of ’61. We are now in the process of contacting the recipients, reserving a venue, organizing the ceremony and the accompanying dinner, developing a program and seeking paid advertisers,  announcing the event and selling tickets to all of the members of the community and the friends and families of the recipients. We are busy!

If all goes well the event will be resuscitated and hopefully a team developed to continue the tradition in the future.
