This letter is to give insight on the productive year when Mr. Harvey and I worked together (2013-2014). I would like to mention my appreciation of the many he provided for problems that the program had encountered, including:
–The Conference Dayyou led, in which we discussed how to improve the working relationships in the overall school and the follow up activities you supported.
–Continuous telephone calls to the parents of children in the program who were experiencing behavior issues created a parent/teacher relationship. The number of students in the In School Suspension (ISS) department drastically dropped from up to 12 or more students a day to 2 students or less.
–Your development of mentoring the students as another reward for positive behavior was also a great asset to the group. The students enjoyed the chance to help gym teachers, assist teachers of younger students, assist in face painting, assist with the creation of balloon animals in class, and also helping you with bus dismissal.
–Your brainstorming ideas for the program brought forth a strong connection and communication with the school staff.
–Lastly, you insisted that the end of the program year “Showcase” should be held in the evening for the very first time, and this allowed parents of the students and also members of the community to attend and enjoy the great works and performances of all the students. Your support in calling all the families, arranging for refreshments, helping us develop programs with the kids and arranging for security from The Syracuse Police department ensured the safety and good times we all experienced.
In my opinion, the (2013-2014) program year was a great success. The program was less stressful, more relaxed and overall highly productive with your leadership.
Thank you for your leadership.
Cordially,
Harold V. Mitchell - Teacher Assistant
